This past weekend I drove down to Columbus to see friends and watch finals at Collegiates at Ohio State. I went to a surprise party for one of my friends, saw a ton of others, and generally had a nice weekend away from school. I even got to go on the field at Ohio Stadium with only three other people. I left some good Michigan vibes there :) Now its back to ObGyn, which is still going well. That's all for now.

OBGYN Begins
So far this rotation has been really good. I like the efficiency and I like being back in the OR. Right now I am on the benign gynecology service, which is mostly surgery and post-op care as well as the consults called for gyn around the hospital. It's been interesting so far, despite the early morning wake up I am no longer used to. I have this service through the end of next week, then labor and delivery for the middle two weeks, and I end on triage, which is essentially the OB emergency department. It should be interesting!

The Little Nuggets
I just realized I forgot to post about my newest family members. Lemon and Bluebell came home last weekend and are super adorable. They have quickly adjusted the their new home and it's been fun having little animals around the condo. Here are a few pics from tonight!

DONE WITH PSYCH!
Today was a great day for many reasons. First of all I am finally done with psych! I took my shelf this morning and then it was all over. I'm pretty excited to get back to the more hands on side of medicine. Second of all there are only SIX weeks life of third year!! SIX WEEKS! I cannot wait to be done with all these required clerkships and start with the rotations that I choose. So excited. Lastly, today was match day for the current M4s. I so love seeing where everyone is headed for the next 3+ years to do their training in all the various specialties. It is so exciting! Now I get to start the countdown to my own match day on March 18, 2016. Just 364 days until I will know where I am headed to start my own training (and where I will finally earn some $ to make my bank account go in the right direction). This weekend is going to be full of relaxing, and more importantly, not studying. OBGYN starts Monday morning with two days of orientation.

Half-way through Psych
Hello again. I am now over half-way through my psychiatry rotation. Finished inpatient on Friday of last week and I am currently on the outpatient and consults half of the rotation. It is interesting overall, but it is a bit overwhelming mentally. It is difficult for me to not take on all the emotions of the patients, and since almost every patient I have seen has come in for depression it has been difficult. I am a little disappointed by the breath of clinical practice I am witnessing, as I feel that it has been very one sided and there are a lot more aspects of psychiatry aside from depression and suicidal ideation. Anyways, only 2.5 weeks left. I am looking forward to people being happy that new babies are on the way on OB (though not looking forward to going back to pelvic exams at all). Future orientation for the win!
