First Days... not in the OR
My first two days here have not been in the Ors, but have been okay! I spent a day of colonoscopies and EGDs (upper digestive tract scopes via the mouth and esophagus, etc) and a day on OB. Seeing babies being born is always cool. Anyways, these procedures don't really have much that I can do, but still good to learn about. Haven't gotten my schedule for tomorrow yet, so hoping for some OR time!
In other news I passed Step 2 and actually did pretty well on it! Yay! All done with my testing for medical school (except for the emergency medicine shelf at the end of October, which won't matter at that point in time). So relieved and excited!

I also went to the Grove yesterday to check it out, as well as the permanent Farmers Market, which is a fixed bunch of little places to eat and buy treat. Yum!

First Day at CS
Today was the first day of my away rotation. It was mostly filled with administrative things, like computer system training, getting ID badges, parking passes, and scrub access (well almost, we will have actual scrub access tomorrow, but at least we got something to wear for the morning!). We also met with the department chair which was nice. I feel a little bit scattered after getting so comfortable at Michigan, but hopefully I'll get the hang of things quickly! Tomorrow is the first day in the Ors here, and I'm assigned to GI Lab, which means scopes all day I assume. Not my favorite, but at least not pain clinic!

Insane Inflatable
This morning I woke up and drove to Lansing to do the Insane Inflatable 5k. It is a 5k course with 11 inflatable obstacles that you climb, slide, and bounce across. It was pretty fun! I walked most of the course and had a nice time being outside and having some fun on the obstacles. Other than that I've mostly been preparing everything for LA, and by that I been making sure I have everything I need for the rats while I am gone. I'm almost done with that and then I can start packing for myself. Always the last minute with me!
