This morning I explored Zug a little bit. I walked down to the lake and walked along the shore and then walked through the mall. I debated sticking around until the train back to Germany, but I decided taking a stop in Zurich might be more fun. I went back to the hostel, grabbed my backpack, and got in the train to Zurich.
The first thing I did when I got to the train station in Zurich was attempt to store my bag. Had I known it was going to cost 9fr I probably would have just stayed in Zug for lunch! The first locker I tried ate my 5fr coin and I couldn't get it back, but just when I had come to terms with the fact that my money was gone since I couldn't find any help, someone else had tried the same locker (also lost their money) and had gotten someone to help. So I got my 5fr back! I quickly tried another locker before the help guy was still around and it worked. I grabbed a sausage for lunch and set out to walk around Zurich.
My stroll was nice, and I'm pretty sure I found the same restaurant I ate at with my mom, Jutta, Henriette, and Pirkko eight years ago, which was fun. I got something to drink and walked along the river or canal to the lake. There were a million swans at the lakes edge, so I watched them and the coolest ducks ever swim around before heading back to the train station.
I took the 3:10 train out of Zurich and headed towards Stuttgart. For the first hour or so I sat with six nuns. No joke. Just six old nuns who spoke only German and me. It was quite interesting. When got off some German girl decided that sitting in my leg space was a great idea even though there were plenty of other seats available. I read the end of my book and I started a new one again, and for the last 45 minutes or so I took a little nap. When it was time to get my backpack down I smacked myself in the face (mostly straight in the eye) and it was none too pleasant. Luckily my layover was only about 15 minutes before I was off to Nürtingen to meet up with Jutta and family! I realized on that train that I left my headphones and iPod on the other train. So so so sad, especially since they don't make that iPod shuffle version anymore and I like it way better than the current model. I didn't even use it on the last train, so I don't know how it got out of my bag even. Ugh. Anyways...
I made it safely to Jutta's house an it's been great to catch up with her and the kids thus far. I think I will stay here in Neckartailfingen for around five days!
