To Ollantaytambo

This morning we got up and prepared to head to Aguas Callientes, where we will stay the night before our tour to Machu Picchu. We paid for our hostel, stored our bags, said goodbye to Miguel, and the guide met us right on time at 9:15AM to start the journey, and boy a journey it was. We started in a taxi to the area where all the shared buses and taxis leave for Ollantaytambo, where she put us in a taxi with another passenger. The taxi driver was determined to fill all four seats so we waited around a bit to find a fourth. He eventually found a man heading to Urubamba, which is close to Ollantaytambo so he got in and we headed out of Cusco. The ride was pretty winding for much of it, so I was glad that I was in the front seat. I was pretty sure he was one of the most aggressive and not so safe drivers I have ever had the fortune to be in a car with. That kind of how everyone drives here though. Luckily, we made it in one peice! The drive was really pretty, and we saw a ton of pigs, cows, dogs, a few llamas, a few donkeys, and a few sheep.

We arrived in Ollantaytambo about an hour and a half before we needed to catch the train, so we took a motocarro to the Plaza de Armas for 2 soles (less than a dollar). Since Cailtin was under 25, she was able to buy a ticket for multiple ruin sites for the same price I paid at Saqsaywaman, so she went to explore the ruins of Ollantaytambo while I had lunch at Puka Rami near the ruins entrance. I had a chicken sandwich with cheese and avocado and got a little wifi time before the crap wifi I read the hotel we are staying in tonight.

Since the wifi will likely be poor I decided to post now, and you'll get a two-fer today assuming I'm able to post anything at all tonight (I hope I'll be able to!).
