I asked Dad to write a guest post about his first day of golf in Ireland! Here it is:
I dropped Missy off in Cork to explore this am and drive two hours to Tralee. Driving on the other side of the road is nerve wracking, to say the least, especially when a two lane road is only 1 1/2 lanes wide and there is no center lines the round abouts are also challenging and I'm still not entirely clear on the etiquette or tactics to navigate them.
Golf was fantastic with crystal clear skies. The temp was cool with a 15-20 mph breeze. The course was everything that I expected and more. I played OK. I didn't score that well, but I didnt really care. Bogey is actually a good score when you are taking on a 410 yard par 4 into the wind. I played with a couple of Irish guys who were psychiatric RN's in Cork. One of them (Shane) was a member and he gave me a lot of tips. Both guys were great hosts and made the experience much more enjoyable. I'd like to play it again, but we are off to Waterville tomorrow.
