Another one I wrote offline and forgot to post! Sorry for the delay!
This morning I checked out of Wombat's Hostel, stored my things, and set off to finally see the sites in Berlin. I meant to take a tour beginning from the Brandenburg Tor at 10, but I was the only one who showed up and they said the tour therefore would not go. Total bummer. I had read about another bike tour out of Alexanderplatz an hour later, so I moseyed on over I got there pretty early, which was lucky because I was cold and my earliness gave me the chance to grab something with long sleeves since getting my jacket from the hostel would have made me miss he tour.
So, the biking tour was pretty awesome. I got to see a lot of the sites in Berlin and learn a lot about the city that I didn't know. Our guide was an Irish man named Kieran who's been living in Berlin for the last three years. He was pretty funny. We biked all over the city seeing Checkpoint Charlie, the Tiergarten, museum island, te government buildings, remnants of the Berlin Wall (including an old sniper tower), and a lot of other cool stuff. It also turned into a pretty nice day as well half way through!
For lunch we stopped at a biergarten near the zoo that had really good sausages. It was very lovely to be eating in the middle of the gorgeous park. The tour overall ended up taking way longer than I anticipated so I missed the train I wanted to get on and I also missed the one after it. I ended up on a train that took an hour longer, but that's ok. I could have taken one later that got in around the same time mine did, but I didn't feel like sitting around in my hotel for no reason.
The train was late, but overall fine. I finished my book and eventually found the hostel. I had once again made the mistake of not loading a map or figuring out where I was going before I got there and had no Internet! My room was alright, and I got a free glass of prosecco (after which I broke the class by barely touching it) and now I'm going to sleep with the old half dressed people watching tv. Thank god for eye masks and earplugs!
