My train ride was pretty good. I read on the train to Limerick, changed trains, and then slept most of the 2+ hour train to Dublin. When I argued at the train station I walked the 1.5km to my hostel and checked in. I couldn't get into my room since it was only 10am, so I stored my luggage and headed out to explore the city.
Now Dublin is a full proper city and lacks the charm of the smaller towns in western Ireland. As far a a city goes its still a fun place, but I miss the green and the scenery. I took a free walking tour of the city which told me a ton of Dublin and Irish history as we saw many of the most famous places in the city like Dublin Castle, Trinity College, etc. It was a good tour and in glad I took it.
When the tour was complete I went back to a museum of archaeology we had been shown and looked around at the old Irish and Viking artifacts. I didn't know Dublin had such a huge Viking presence until yesterday. After the museum I walked around Trinity College a bit more, walked around the city, and then headed back to the hostel.
After getting into my room and getting everything all settled, I used the Internet downstairs for a bit and just chilled. Some people were going to a pub to watch the rugby and soccer games so I joined in. I had fun with the group I met, but the soccer game didn't end until after 10, so by that time I was exhausted. I went back to the hostel and chatted with some people for a bit before finally heading to bed.
Today I think I'll do the hop on-hop off bus since a girl who was leaving this morning gave me her ticket that was still valid one more day. I was going to go to Belfast, but the train times are weird. Might still go, but I doubt it.
